With the recent reports of Enterovirus-D68 (EV-D68) in our State, I want you to know that I understand your concerns and that you have many questions surrounding it. To help address some of these questions, the New Jersey Department of Health has developed a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) document regarding EV-D68. These FAQs are available at http://nj.gov/health/cd/documents/faq/ev_faq.pdf and are continuously updated, so please check back often. We will continue to monitor the instances of the virus throughout the State and our district and be in contact with additional information if necessary.
In the meantime, please be assured that we are taking every precaution necessary to prevent the Enterovirus by having the custodial staff thoroughly clean and disinfect all areas of the school throughout the day. If you have any questions or concerns regarding EV-D68 and your child, please feel free to contact me at extension 2401.
Message from the Principal
It is with great excitement that I welcome our staff and students back to a new school year. New beginnings are always exciting as they bring new opportunities for growth and success. I would like to encourage all families to be involved in the education of their children as this is an investment worth every effort. There are many ways to become involved such as joining our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), volunteering for school events, completing homework and projects with your child, discussing your child’s learning at the dinner table or in the car. Be sure to also share the learning you are exposing yourself to on a daily basis. Sharing a book you’re reading or an interesting article sends a strong message to your child on being a “life-long” learner.
In an effort to communicate effectively with our families, Calvin Coolidge Elementary will be utilizing several vehicles to deliver information. Please continue to utilize our school and district website as a great resource of all information. Our school page contains links to this monthly newsletter and other valuable resources. Newly implemented this year, you can follow us on Twitter at @CC_hillsidenj. Our Twitter page will be utilized to share the great learning taking place here on a daily basis. Please feel free to give us feedback on these resources and how we can use them to serve you better. I wish you all the best for the new school year and I look forward to seeing all parents at Back to School Night on September 15, 2014 at 7:00p.m.
As a reminder please follow our security guards instructions when picking up your child after school, during dismissal we have over two hundred students being escorted to the buses and dismissed to their parents, The safety of our students is our primordial concern, for this reason parking is not permitted on Tillman Street during dismissal and the flow of traffic is controlled.
